West Hollywood City Council members and representatives of the city’s Public Safety Commission and the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station distributed coasters to bars and restaurants on Dec. 18 printed with the message “Don’t Drink and Drive.”

The city’s annual holiday campaign includes the distribution of 100,000 coasters offering a visual reminder to patrons about the dangers of drinking and driving. West Hollywood Mayor Lauren Meister helped distribute the coasters.

The coasters also feature telephone numbers for taxi companies that serve West Hollywood and a link to information about West Hollywood’s PickUp, a shuttle that runs through the city’s entertainment districts and provides a convenient alternative to driving.

The PickUp runs along Santa Monica Boulevard in a four-mile loop with 15 stops between Robertson Boulevard and La Brea Avenue. The free service is available on Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. For information, visit www.wehopickup.com.

The sheriff’s department is also warning drivers during the holidays that deputies will be looking for drunk and drugged drivers as part of the department’s year-end Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement program.
