A 4-inch water main ruptured on Norton Avenue south of Olympic Boulevard on Wednesday morning, flooding the street and an apartment building carport. The rupture was reported to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) at 7:20 a.m., and crews arrived a short time later to begin repairs, LADWP spokesman Albert Rodriguez said. Water service was restored at approximately 10:20 a.m.
The street was not significantly damaged and vehicles were removed from the carport before it was flooded. Approximately 30 customers were without water service. Rodriguez said crews would work throughout the day to repair the pipe, but there was no timeline available for completion of the repairs.
