A male suspect is being sought for committing two robberies that occurred in the Wilshire Division and West Hollywood on Dec. 17, and police hope someone who witnessed the crimes will call police.

The robberies occurred within minutes of each other at approximately 3 a.m. The suspect targeted victims walking along Orlando Avenue, a north-south street located east of La Cienega Boulevard. The assailant fled in a vehicle driven by a second unknown suspect.

One incident occurred in the 1000 block of Orlando Avenue, just north of Melrose Avenue, in the Wilshire Division. The other robbery was reported near Orlando Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood.

“It looks like they went north,” said Det. B. Romero, with the Wilshire Division. “They went straight up [Orlando].”

The suspect approached on foot, pointed a handgun and stole the victims’ cell phones. The victim in West Hollywood also had a wallet stolen.

The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s. The getaway vehicle was a black Toyota sedan.

Sgt. Jeff Bishop, with the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, said the robberies appear to be isolated incidents.

Anyone with information  is urged to call the Wilshire Division at (213)922-8205, or the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station at (310)855-8850.
