More than 500 participants will run and walk along San Vicente Boulevard on Sunday, Dec. 11 during the Westside Jewish Community Center’s (WJCC) inaugural “One Healthy Community”5K Run/Walk.
The run/walk is presented by philanthropists Joyce Eisenberg-Keefer and Mel Keefer, and is supported by Olympia Medical Center, the First-In Fire Foundation and the offices of Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson, 10th District, and Councilman David Ryu, 4th District. The “One.Healthy.Community” health and wellness expo will also be held. Olympic gold medal swimmer and former world record holder Lenny Krayzelburg, whose Swim Academy originated at WJCC, will co-sponsor the Kids Fun Run portion of the event.
Funds raised will support wellness programming at the WJCC, including senior adult fitness classes, programs for individuals with special needs, children’s health and sports classes, and scholarships for teens.
The event will be held on San Vicente Boulevard between Olympic Boulevard and La Brea Avenue. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m.; the run starts at 8 a.m. The event is open to the public and participants will receive a gift bag and T-shirt. To register, visit www.wizathon.com/wjcc5k.
