The Wilshire Rotary Christmas Tree Lot is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Larchmont Boulevard from Friday, Nov. 25 through Friday, Dec. 23.
Fresh cut trees are delivered weekly from Five Star Trees in Sublimity, Oregon. In addition to the popular noble firs, the Christmas tree lot offers Douglas, Nordmann, Fraser and Silvertip trees. Silvertip trees are scarce and sell out quickly. A small number of fresh Silvertips will arrive on Nov. 25, Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14.
Proceeds from the Wilshire Rotary Christmas Tree Lot benefit the Wilshire Rotary Foundation and The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. The tree lot has enabled Wilshire Rotary to provide scholarships to students at Los Angeles High School and the Ambassador School of Global Leadership. Proceeds have also benefitted Hope-Net, Operation School Bell, The LAPD Reserve Foundation, The Hollywood YMCA and The Anderson/Munger YMCA. Wilshire Rotary has also donated baby items, ball gowns and pumpkins to families at the Camp Pendleton Marine Base and dictionaries for more than 1,300 3rd-grade students at local schools.
Globally, Wilshire Rotary has provided three incubators and supplies to the Women’s Maternal Health Clinic in Chitra, Panama; provided a water treatment plant for Joya Verde Village in Guatemala; and supported the Peace and Conflict Prevention program in Guatemala. This year, members of Wilshire Rotary decorated Larchmont Boulevard with red ribbons and bows, and helped Big Sunday create Thanksgiving baskets.
In addition to donating dozens of trees to shelters and needy families, the tree lot provides temporary jobs for dozens of people during the holidays.
The Wilshire Rotary Christmas Tree Lot is located at 568 N. Larchmont Blvd. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily. For information, call (323)464-1935.
