The Normans suffered another punishing defeat at the hands of the Lawndale Cardinals last Friday night 67-0. The Cardinals, who improve to 5-4, were led by star quarterback Jalen Hamler, who has thrown for over 1,000 yards this season, and by sophomore running back Jordan Wilmore who has run for over 1,200 yards. The Normans fall to 0-9 in a disastrous season where they’ve posted only 20 points in nine games. The Normans finish their season at home against the Culver City Centaurs this Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
Fairfax Lions

The Lions suffered a tough loss to the Hamilton Yankees 14-10 last Friday, their second loss in a row. Senior running back Ryan Kennedy had a strong performance scoring the Lion’s only touchdown and gaining over nine yards per carry for 89 total yards. Darryl Carrington recovered an interception for the Lions on defense. The Lions’ hopes were dashed in the fourth quarter when the Yankees, down by three, scored a late-game touchdown. The Lions finish their season at home this Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. against the 7-2 Westchester Comets. The Comets are coming off two straight wins where they outscored opponents 80-32 led by quarterback Jonathan Murphy who’s thrown for over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns this season.
Hollywood Sheiks

Hollywood High School notched their third win in a row last Friday and improved to an impressive 5-0 in league play with a decisive 49-6 win over Roybal High School. The Sheiks relied on a strong defense led by senior Florencio Dawson who had nine total tackles while three different Sheiks recovered fumbles. Hollywood High concludes its season against their main rival, the Bernstein Dragons this Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in what the schools refer to as “The Battle of Sunset Boulevard.” Bernstein High School is located at 1309 N. Wilton Place in Hollywood.
Los Angeles Romans

The Los Angeles Romans evened their league record at 2-2 by winning a forfeit match last Friday against the Locke High School Saints. The Romans improve to a 5-3 overall record as they head into their final matchup against the 4-5 Crenshaw Cougars at home this Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. The Cougars have lost their last two games including to the undefeated Hawkins High School Hawks who the Romans lost to the week before. With a win against Crenshaw, the Romans can cap a winning season with an even win-loss record in league play.
Loyola Cubs

The Loyola Cubs suffered a tough 20-15 loss at the hands of the Alemany Warriors last Friday night. Cubs quarterback Sean O’Malley completed 12 passes on 19 attempts for 118 yards and two touchdowns, but gave up an interception. Receiver Connor Beadles averaged 12 yards per reception and caught O’Malley’s only touchdown pass. Running back Diego Cacho-Sousa also punched in a one-yard, goal line touchdown run for the Cubs. Loyola had strong defensive performances by Tommy Vanis, Jack Fitzgerald and Winston Anawalt who combined for 27 of the Cubs’ 53 total tackles. The Cubs struggled on special teams allowing Alemany senior Johnny Edwards to return a kickoff for 47 yards. The Cubs finish their season at home this Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. The Notre Dame Knights are 4-5 on the season and struggling with a 1-4 record in league play. They are coming off a 28-26 win against Crespi last weekend and will look to even their overall record against the Cubs.
