The production features the color, passion and character that distinguish the art of flamenco. Theatre Flamenco will present some of the world’s most renowned artists from Spain, including dancer Pastora Galván and flamenco singer Juana la del Pipa.
Galván, one of the top international stars of flamenco, made her professional debut with Theatre Flamenco at the age of 15. La del Pipa is from a dynasty of flamenco artists from Jerez de la Frontera in Southern Spain.
Also invited is California native and accomplished flamenco dancer Cristina Hall. Hall now lives in Seville, Spain and is one of the few American-born artists to establish a successful flamenco career in Spain.
“El Latir del Tiempo/The Beat of Time” will feature reprised and new works choreographed by Mexican-born Carola Zertuche, artistic director of Theatre Flamenco. Zertuche is also celebrating her 10th anniversary of leading Theatre Flamenco.
Theatre Flamenco is co-producing the performance with the Los Angeles International Flamenco Festival. Founded in 2010 by event producer Mitch Chang, the festival features performances by flamenco guitar legends.
The Wilshire Ebell Theatre is located at 4401 W. Eighth St. Tickets start at $25. For information, visit www.theatreflamenco.org.
