The Mid City West Community Council (MCWCC) on Oct. 13 voted to support the 333 La Cienega project, a mixed-use residential development planned just south of the Beverly Center near the intersection of Burton Way, San Vicente and La Cienega Boulevards.

The project at the site of the former Loehmann’s building is planned by Caruso Affiliated and its founder and CEO Rick J. Caruso. It would be located just north of Caruso’s 8500 Burton Way residential property, which opened in 2012.
The MCWCC has been working with Caruso Affiliated to ensure 333 La Cienega will be a project that is beneficial to surrounding neighbors, said Scott Epstein, chair of the MCWCC. The 19-story project will include 145 rental units and a restaurant and market on the ground floor. A 7,000-square-foot public open space is also planned.
“I think it’s going to be a really good project for the community,” Epstein said. “There is also going to be a community space and I am happy about that. It is really going to be a beautiful place to walk.”
Epstein added that Caruso Affiliated has agreed to designate 10 percent of the units as affordable. The developer also plans to include neighborhood improvements such as new crosswalks and landscaping, he added
“They have committed to doing a lot of great things for the neighborhood,” Epstein said. “It’s a very substantial investment in making it safer to bike and walk in the area.”
Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz, 5th District, previously said he was “excited about the general concept” of the development.
“The project has gotten a lot of support from the community, including from the neighborhood council, and so the council member is leaning toward supporting it,” said Paul Michael Neuman, communications director for Koretz.
The project will next move to the planning commission and later the city council, but an exact timeline has not been established. Caruso Affiliated hopes to open the project in late 2019.
