Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division are searching for a male hit and run driver who injured a 42-year-old woman on Aug. 21 as he drove away from the scene of a collision.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m. after the victim was involved in a three-vehicle traffic collision on La Brea Avenue, north of Olympic Boulevard. The victim exited her vehicle and walked over to another vehicle involved to speak with the driver. Police described the vehicle as possibly being a gray or silver Ford Escape.

The driver of the other vehicle suddenly accelerated away from the scene as the victim was holding a driver side window, causing her to fall and hit her head on the roadway. The driver failed to stop and render aid to the victim, as required by law.

Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where she is being treated for a severe head injury. Witnesses described the driver-suspect as a Hispanic man in his late 30s with brown hair.

On Aug. 31, while inspecting the victim’s white Toyota Camry, an imprint of a license plate number was obtained from the left rear corner bumper. The license plate number – 5TFY382 – is registered to a Mazda Tribute, but police have been unable to locate the owner. Police described the vehicle’s owner, Rene Milton Guzman Jr., as a person of interest in the case.
