Works by emerging L.A. artists on display in Barnsdall Park gallery
The Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery in Barnsdall Art Park is holding an opening reception for the “2016 Open Call” exhibit on Sunday, Aug. 14 from 2 to 5 p.m.
The exhibit runs from Thursday, Aug. 18 through Sunday, Sept. 18 and features works by more than 300 artists. An award ceremony will be held at the reception honoring artists chosen by former LAMAG curator Scott Canty.
Having started as the “All City Outdoor Festival” in 1950, “Open Call” has evolved into one of L.A.’s premier exhibitions for emerging artists and students. The exhibit’s organizers encouraged artists to interpret the notion of play. Mediums include sculpture, paintings and photography.
The Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery is located at 4800 Hollywood Blvd. For information, call (323)644-6269, or visit www.lamag.org.
