The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) recently hosted an Environmental Teacher Institute workshop on May 21. Participating teachers learned about energy and water efficiency, as well as renewable energy.

Michelle Richter (pictured), a teacher at Walt Whitman High School, which is adjacent to Fairfax High School, provided information about her students’ habitat restoration stewardship project.

The Environmental Institute workshop was part of a three-event series sponsored by the LADWP and the California Environmental Education Foundation. Educators who teach students in the 4th-12th grades were invited to participate in the institute, which provides information on environmental education and place-based stewardship.
