The Youth Policy Institute (YPI) has announced it will receive a grant as part of the Community Progress Makers Fund, $20 million to support 40 nonprofit organizations’ efforts to establish new approaches to long-standing urban economic challenges in the United States – including economic development, environment sustainability, urban infrastructure and affordable housing.
YPI will receive a core operating support grant of $500,000 over the course of two years to continue its work in the community to break the cycle of poverty by providing access to education, workforce training and services for youth and families.
The new funds will help bolster existing initiatives like the LA Promise Zone while opening the door to new programs such as Promise Scholars, which prepares high school sophomores and juniors with a GPA of 2.0-3.0 for college. In addition to the grant, YPI will also have access to technical assistance from leading national researchers and experts. For information, visit www.ypiusa.org.
