More than 3,500 runners and walkers will participate in the “2016 Walk to Cure Arthritis” on Saturday, May 14 in Exposition Park to support the Arthritis Foundation.
The walk is the Arthritis Foundation’s signature national fundraising event bringing together communities to fight arthritis, the nation’s leading cause of disability.
Local honorees will share stories of living with arthritis during the Los Angeles Walk to Cure Arthritis. The event’s Orthopedic Honoree is Dr. Jason Snibbe, an orthopedic surgeon, and the Medical Honoree is Dr. Samy Metyas, a rheumatologist. The event also spotlights Adult Honoree Carly Panchura, and Youth Honoree Grace Lewis, 14, who was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at age 12.
In the United States, more than 50 million adults and 300,000 children live with arthritis. Arthritis affects one in five Americans and limits more activity than heart disease, cancer or diabetes. The Los Angeles Walk to Cure Arthritis will help people living with arthritis by supporting programs, research and advocacy initiatives. It also funds research to find a cure for the disease.
