The Los Angeles City Elementary Schools Music Association and the Arts Education Branch of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) will host the 75th annual Diamond Jubilee Gala Celebration on May 15 in the Grand Ballroom of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Los Angeles Music Center.
The event is open to the public and celebrates 75 years of the two organizations promoting elementary school music education for the LAUSD.
The program will include a performance by more than 100 singers from the association’s Honor Children’s Chorus. The evening also includes a banquet.
“[The Elementary Schools Music Association] is just one of the examples of our teachers’ dedication beyond the classroom to our children in the LAUSD,” said Arts Branch executive director Rory Pullens. “Seventy-five years of dedication to music education is outstanding.”
Gail Eichenthal, executive producer of public radio station KUSC, will emcee the banquet. Los Angeles Philharmonic violinist and former association student scholarship recipient Mitchell Newman will be the featured speaker.
