The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust (LAMOTH) will host and sponsor several events as part of the 11th annual Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival.

On Thursday, May 19, LAMOTH will host the Los Angeles premiere of “Shores of Light.” The film focuses on women whose parents survived the Holocaust and arrived in post-World War II Italy before beginning their trek to the new nation of Israel. LAMOTH describes the film as a “poignant, untold story of compassion” that blends historical footage with testimonials. A Q&A session after the film will feature the film’s producers.

On Sunday, May 22, LAMOTH will feature the fifth annual Barchu Call to Action: Student Film Showcase, a collaboration between the museum’s Righteous Conversations Project and the film festival. The event will highlight student-made pieces that explore humanity and look to use film as a medium for social change. The showcase begins at 10:30 a.m., with a breakfast reception prior to the screening.

On Tuesday, May 24, LAMOTH will co-sponsor a screening of the Los Angeles premier of “The People vs. Fritz Bauer,” a film chronicling the efforts to bring Nazi war criminals to justice. Fritz Bauer, the attorney general who was instrumental in bringing Adolf Eichmann to trial in Israel, is the centerpiece of the movie, which won the Audience Award at the 2015 Locarno International Film Festival. The event takes place at Laemmle’s Music Hall in Beverly Hills and will feature an introduction by Deputy Consul General of Germany Stefan Biedermann. The Goldrich Family Foundation and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany are also co-sponsoring the screening.
