Immaculate Heart High School’s annual Scholar Athlete Luncheon on April 20 honored 109 students who participate in school sports and also maintain a 3.5 grade point average or higher.
Nearly 40 percent of all students play team sports at Immaculate Heart. Of the 184 students who are members of at least one school team this year, nearly 60 percent have achieved the designated status as scholar athletes.
“Congratulations on managing your studies and your sports,” Immaculate Heart president Maureen Diekmann told the student athletes at the luncheon, which was also attended by parents. Diekmann also thanked the families for their support, as well as the team coaches, athletic director Maureen Rodriguez and members of the Girls’ Athletic Association, which organized the event.
Pictured are 11 students who received special recognition as the top scholar athletes in each class. The students were presented with commemorative plaques. They included from left sophomores Mia Speier and Aurora Parks; freshman Sydney Cahill; juniors Katie Hughes, Ashley Conde and Oona Holahan; freshman Kelly Kim; senior Maddie Gannon; freshman Isabella Valenzuela; senior Anora Denison; and sophomore Cristina Gonzales.
