With classes ranging from animal communication to robotics and art to yoga, Immaculate Heart Middle School’s expanded summer program reflects the diverse interests of girls entering the 4th through 8th grades.

“Our summer classes offer a variety of creative and academic skills-based activities designed for wide appeal,” said Gina Finer, director of Immaculate Heart Middle School. “Along with new courses, we are pleased to feature sessions specifically for rising 4th and 5th graders for the first time.”
Registration runs through May 23 for Immaculate Heart’s summer program which begins June 13 ad runs through July 8. Morning classes, offered in either two- or four-week sessions, begin at 8:10 a.m. and end at noon. A series of week-long afternoon classes and workshops are also available and run through 5:30 p.m., depending on course.
Students can enroll in offerings in several categories. Under visual and performing arts, courses are available in Ballet Folklorico, crafts, knitting, and scrapbooking and collage. Science and technology classes include animal communication and behavior, CSI/forensic science, Mac movie making and robotics. Physical education courses include fitness, swimming and yoga. Academic classes are also offered in math, English and creative writing, as well as skill building, which focuses on time management and study skills as well as logic puzzles.
Each afternoon, students can participate in specialty workshops in Shakespeare theater performance, art of animation, vocals and choreography, cooking and sports.
Tuition ranges from $60 for one-week, one-hour afternoon courses to $240 for four-week single courses. All materials and fees are included.
