The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Traffic Services Detail will operate a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint on Saturday, April 23 from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. at an undisclosed location in West Hollywood.

The deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints is proven to reduce the number of deaths and injuries from alcohol- and drug-involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by up to 20 percent when well-publicized DUI checkpoints and patrols are conducted routinely. Deputies will look for signs of alcohol and drug impairment, with officers momentarily checking drivers to ensure they are licensed.
