Anawalt Lumber Co.’s annual Spring Garden Festival is on Saturday, April 30 at the Pico Boulevard store, 11060 W. Pico Blvd., and Sunday May 1 at the Malibu store, 3730 Cross Creek Road.
The festival includes speakers and information on gardening and related topics. Visitors can participate in raffles of garden-related items, plants and gift cards, and vendors will present their products and help customers with gardening issues.
The discussions begin at 11 a.m. on April 30, with Stephanie Ripple, of Espoma, covering organic gardening basics. At noon, Greg Smith of Dig will discuss drip irrigation; Matt Zipprich, of Malibu Composts, will cover healthy soil for water savings at 12:45 p.m.; followed by Steve Hazzard, of Orcon, discussing beneficial insects at 1:30 p.m. Ty Hall, of Kellogg, will discuss raised bed vegetable gardening at 2:15 p.m., and Mitchell Grossman, of Early Orchids, will cover orchid care at 3 p.m.
On May 1, Larry Hill, of Orcon, will discuss beneficial insects; Greg Smith, of Dig, will share information on drip irrigation at noon; Matt Zipprich, of Malibu Composts, will cover healthy soil for water savings at 1 p.m.; and Ty Hall, of Kellogg, will cover raised bed vegetable gardening at 2 p.m. The festival concludes with Mitchell Grossman, of Early Orchids, discussing orchid care at 3 p.m.
