The Autry Museum of the American West and the historic California Art Club are hosting their “Gold Medal exhibition” running Sunday, April 3 through Sunday, April 24. More than 200 sculptures and paintings will be on display in genres ranging from landscapes and seascapes to figures and still life paintings. Included is Michael Obermeyer’s “Elysian View” (pictured). The exhibiting artists have expanded interest in the California Impressionist heritage associated with the art club’s founding in 1909. While the artists employ time-honored fine art techniques, their works address societal issues from diversity to the environment.
A reception will be held April 2 at 6 p.m. The Autry Museum of the American West is located at 4700 Western Heritage Way in Griffith Park. For information, call (323)667-2000, or visit www.theautry.org.
