U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) will host a town hall meeting on legislation to preserve the Rim of the Valley Corridor on Tuesday, March 8 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Zoo’s Witherbee Auditorium.
Schiff will also participate in a town hall meeting on the legislation held by Rep. Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village), on Wednesday, March 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Oak Park, an unincorporated community in Ventura County.
The meetings will allow constituents, advocates and homeowners to discuss the final report on the Rim of the Valley Corridor Special Resources Study. The report examined the possibility of expanding the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SMMNRA) boundary to include the Rim of the Valley, which is along the western and northern edges of the San Fernando Valley. The report recommends significantly expanding the existing recreation area, and has been delivered to Congress for review.
Schiff is working on legislation to expand the SMMNRA to include the Rim of the Valley and is gathering input from community stakeholders. The Los Angeles Zoo is located at 5333 Zoo Drive in Griffith Park. The town hall meeting in Oak Park will be held at the Oak Park High School, Room G-9, 899 N. Kanan Road.
