The Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP) announced that its 2nd Annual Gala and Print Auction Fundraiser will be next Tuesday in Santa Monica. The evening will include music, food, cocktails and the opportunity to purchase photography to support LACP’s nonprofit work within the photography community.
As part of its mission, LACP offers focused programming for youth and low-income families. This past year, Julia Dean, the executive director of LACP, introduced new photography classes for students.
“This past year has been great fun watching the kids interact with their community in Boyle Heights,” Dean said. “They have taken remarkable photographs of life along Cesar E. Chavez Ave. One of my students recently told me ‘these classes have taught me how to see the world differently,’ which makes me very happy.”
Proceeds from the fundraiser will help grow the education initiatives with other Boys & Girls Clubs in Los Angeles.
The gala will be from 7-10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29 at Arena 1 Gallery, located at 3026 Airport Ave. in Santa Monica. VIP admission begins at 6 p.m.
