On Feb. 13, West Hollywood joined countless others around the world for the “One Billion Rising” event.

The event was part of a global campaign committed to ending violence against women and girls, and to take a stand against gender inequality.

“The V-Day movement’s One Billion Rising campaign continues to raise the stakes for women and girls all over the world,” said West Hollywood Mayor Lindsey Horvath. “This year’s theme is rise, dance, disrupt, and West Hollywood will, once again, support the movement to end violence by participating in this global day of action and calling on women and the men who love us to hold their communities accountable.”
