The National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles (NCJW/LA) is seeking volunteers for its annual clothing giveaway on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the NCJW/LA council house on Fairfax Avenue.

In keeping with its mission to improve the quality of life for women, children and families, NCJW/LA has invited at-risk members of the community to select from thousands of pieces of clothing, as well as children’s books. Attendees will also receive information from social service providers at a community resource fair.

NCJW/LA’s eight Council Thrift Shops provided more than 2,500 people with 75,000 pieces of clothing at last year’s clothing giveaway. Recipients learn of the event through local community service agencies, homeless shelters and battered women’s facilities. More than 250 volunteers donate their time, and additional volunteers are needed this year.

“National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles is extremely proud and grateful to be able to continue to serve and provide for the community in need,” said NCJW/LA Board president Shelli Dodell.

Volunteers are also needed for a shift on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon. On Dec. 6, volunteers are needed for shifts from 6:45 to 10 a.m., and 9:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Groups of 10 or more volunteers are needed on Dec. 6 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. The NCJW/LA Council House is located at 543 N.
