Filmmaker Ron Howard received the 2,568th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Dec. 10 in the category of motion pictures. It marked the second star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Howard, who received his first star in 1981 in the category of television. Howard has enjoyed a long career in television and film, starring as “Opie” in the television series “The Andy Griffith Show” and later as “Richie Cunningham” in “Happy Days.” Howard also appeared in feature films such as “American Graffiti” and “The Shootist,” and went on to direct and produce dramatic films such as “Apollo 13,” “A Beautiful Mind” and “Frost/Nixon,” and comedies such as “Night Shift,” “Parenthood” and “Splash.” The Academy Award-winning filmmaker’s most recent film, “In the Heart of the Sea,” opened on Dec. 11. Howard’s star in the motion pictures category is located at 6931 Hollywood Blvd. The star for his work in television is located at 6838 Hollywood Blvd.
