Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell (second from left), 13th District, recently joined representatives from the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) and the LAPD at the Santa Monica/Vermont Red Line subway station in East Hollywood to distribute free bicycle lights to cyclists.

The event was part of the LACBC’s Operation Firefly, an annual free bike light distribution program that aims to improve safety. The goal is to increase overall distribution by 25 percent this winter, with up to 2,500 people receiving lights. O’Farrell has sponsored the distribution in Council District 13 each year since taking office. For information on Operation Firefly, visit www.la-bike.org.
