The Wilshire Vermont apartment community in Koreatown invites artists to enter “The Art of Life Connected” art contest and exhibit. The community-driven art initiative provides artists with a very visible platform where they can exhibit original works of art that reflect Los Angeles’ diverse and interconnected community. Submissions will be accepted through Dec. 16. Fifty art pieces will be selected for a long-term public exhibit.
The Wilshire Vermont apartment community is located at 3183 Wilshire Blvd. The neighborhood is at the center of a major commuting hub near the Metro Red Line and Purple Line station at Wilshire/Vermont. More than 45,000 commuters pass through the community’s public courtyard each week. “The ‘Art of Life Connected’ project will harness the creative and artistic energy of Los Angeles to create a thoughtful reflection of all Angelenos,” said Edgar Garcia, arts and culture manager for the city of Los Angeles. “Efforts like these create community amongst our great diversity and foster greater understanding of each other.”
To enter in the contest, artists can upload digital images of their original works at www.WilshireVermontLA.com through Dec. 16. A jury of art experts will judge the submissions. First place winners will receive $1,000; second place winners will receive $500; and third place winners will be awarded $250.
