On Nov. 18th, Jewish World Watch (JWW) will present its Global Soul Award to the four members of the Katzburg Gabriel Family – Stuart Gabriel, Judith Katzburg, Jesse Gabriel and Oren Gabriel – in recognition of their efforts to prevent genocide, mass atrocities to alleviate the suffering of survivors in Darfur and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
“As members of our board, leaders of our community, and extraordinarily accomplished professionals in their respective fields, the Katzburg Gabriels have been unwavering champions of human rights and social justice,” said JWW co-founder and president Janice Kamenir Reznik. “We are proud to honor this family’s individual and collective contributions to advance the mission of Jewish World Watch – and the broader anti-genocide movement.”
All members of the Katzburg Gabriel Family are civic leaders in California. Stuart is the director of the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate and the Arden Realty Chair and professor of finance at UCLA Anderson School of Management. Jesse and Oren Gabriel were the only brothers to both serve as student body presidents at UC Berkeley. Judith Katzburg is an accomplished health services researcher. Stuart and Oren Gabriel sit on the Jewish World Watch Board of Directors.
This year’s Global Soul Award ceremony will take place at Royce Hall at UCLA. It will include a musical program produced by the UCLA Center for the Arts of Performance, featuring the internationally renowned Kronos Quartet.
Past Global Soul Award winners include former County Supervisor Zev Yaroslovsky, Rabbi Harold Schulweis and JWW Co-Founder and President Janice Kamenir-Reznik.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at UCLA 340 Royce Drive. Student tickets are $35, 25- to 40-year-olds are $136 and regular tickets are $360.
