Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Bureau Homicide Unit are investigating the murder of a male victim who was found dead on Sept. 24 in the LAPD’s Olympic Division.
Officers responded at approximately 5:12 a.m. to a call about a shooting at 6th Street and Occidental Avenue, and found an unidentified victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
A witness described the suspect as a Hispanic man and told police the suspect was last seen heading west on 6th Street. A second victim arrived at the scene and informed officers that a Hispanic man had pointed a handgun at him and stole his bicycle shortly after the initial shooting.
Police later stopped a man riding a bicycle near 5th Street and Virgil Avenue whom they determined to be the suspect in the homicide. The individual had discarded a firearm, which was recovered by police.
