The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) has postponed plans to reconfigure traffic lanes near Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue.

The work was supposed to start on Oct. 23, but it now appears the earliest opportunity to begin will be Nov. 6, according to Metro communications manager Dave Sotero.

The work precedes the first major station construction for the Metro Purple Line Extension Project. Metro’s contractor Skanska, Traylor, Shea will install k-rails and fencing around the north three lanes of Wilshire Boulevard between Mansfield Avenue and Detroit Street. Work will consist of street re-striping, traffic signal reconfiguration and installation of k-rails and fencing. Parking also will be eliminated on Wilshire Boulevard between Mansfield Avenue and Detroit Street. The construction will reduce Wilshire Boulevard from three lanes in each direction to two lanes in each direction from Highland Avenue to Cloverdale Avenue – approximately five blocks.  Reduced lanes will be in place for the duration of pile installation work.
