Learn how to make your favorite sausage at Huntington Meat’s popular sausage-making class, taught by owner Jim Cascone. The class is on Sunday, Oct. 11 from 6-8 p.m., and features a lecture, a hands-on lesson and a chance to sample the finished product.
Cascone lends his expertise to students during an hour lecture, sharing tips and how-to advice, teaching about wild game sausages and casings. The class provides lessons that will be easy to follow at home, including how to use a Kitchen Aid grinder and the percentage of fat to add for the perfect sausage.
The second half of the class is spent mixing, piping and twisting sausages, and the opportunity to taste appetizers and dishes based on sausages. Students are able to choose from chicken- or pork-based sausage, and then take home their culinary creation, which typically is about three pounds of sausage.
The class costs $45, and will be held at Huntington Meat’s at the Original Farmers Market at 6333 W. 3rd St., Stall # 350.
