More than 1,000 shelter pets will be showcased at Best Friends Animal Society’s NKLA Super Adoption on Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum.
Hosted by Best Friends Animal Society and presented by BOBS from Skechers, the event is one of six super adoptions held twice a year throughout the country. The free, family-friendly event features adoptable pets from more than 50 local shelters and rescues, including Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in Mission Hills, Los Angeles Animal Services, Boston Buddies, PugNation Rescue LA, Wags and Walks, Labs and Friends.org, Angel City Pit Bulls, Kitty Bungalow and Found Animals Adopt & Shop.
“This is truly a super adoption event with every type of pet imaginable, from playful pups and cute kittens to active adults and super sweet seniors. It’s the perfect venue to find your new best friend,” said Marc Peralta, executive director of Best Friends Animal Society, Los Angeles.
Adoption fees start at $50 and leashed dogs are welcome at the event for meet and greets. All pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped, and adopters will receive a goody bag filled with toys, treats, coupons and more.
“Adoption isn’t just humane, it’s cost-effective, too,” Peralta said. “There’s no need to purchase a pet when you can adopt a fantastic dog or cat for a much lower price and save a life at the same time.”
Peralta added that 9,000 dogs and cats are killed in U.S. shelters daily.
The goal of Best Friend’s super adoptions is to turn Los Angeles into a no-kill city.
The La Brea Tar Pits and Museum are located at 5801 Wilshire Boulevard.
