The U.S Army has announced that Reese Lara, a 2010 Loyola High School graduate and a student at the University of San Francisco, has graduated from the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Cadet Initial Entry Training (CIET) program in Kentucky.
CIET is a 30-day program that trains and educates cadets on basic military tasks creating a foundation for the critical thinking skills necessary to become a U.S. Army officer. Cadets are observed and evaluated during classroom and field training exercises to determine their officer potential and leadership abilities.
The cadets are trained in leadership values during the challenging and motivating “hands-on” portion of the program. The training develops well-disciplined, highly motivated, physically conditioned students to improve their self-confidence, leadership potential and decision making.
The cadets receive training in fundamental military skills, Army values, ethics, marksmanship, small arms tactics, drill and ceremony, communications and navigation.
