Firefighters extinguished a brush fire that ignited in Griffith Park on Sept. 5, containing the flames to three to five acres. The blaze was reported at approximately 2:35 p.m. on a hillside in the 4900 block of Griffith Park Drive, located west of Crystal Springs Drive and south of the Los Angeles Zoo. More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze, and extinguished the flames in one hour and 37 minutes, according to LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.

“No injuries were reported, and it’s under active investigation,” Humphrey said.

Authorities are urging visitors to Griffith Park to be cautious about dry brush and the potential for fires. Park rangers will continue to patrol the area near the fire to ensure there are no “flare-ups,” Humphrey added.
