The new Hollywood Pool is making a big splash with residents after its grand opening on Monday at 1122 Cole Ave. Councilman Mitch O’Farrell (pictured), 13th District, dove in fully clothed to mark the opening, which included a performance by members of the city’s synchronized swim team. Dozens of children and their family members then took the plunge in the new 9,575 square foot pool.
The pool and adjacent bathhouse and locker room underwent a two-year, $7.6 million renovation. The project was funded by Proposition K, a bond initiative that provides money for parks and recreational facilities.
Swim lessons will be offered, as well as youth and adult swim lessons, youth aquatics team swimming, diving and synchronized swimming. Recreational swimming hours will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday; 1 to 5 p.m. on weekends. The general admission cost is $3.50 for adults ages 18-64, $1 for children under 17 and seniors 65 and older. For information, call the pool office at (323)460-7030, or visit www.laparks.org.
