LAPD seeks volunteers for LGBTQ community policing academy
The Los Angeles Police Department is holding the next installment of its Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender and Questioning Community Policing Academy beginning on Thursday, Sept. 10.
The academy provides community members with an overview of the LAPD’s policies and procedures. The curriculum and teaching methods are similar to the traditional law enforcement academy; however, the weekly sessions are not designed to certify the participant as a law enforcement officer.
Participants will be encouraged to build lasting partnerships with the department, with the ultimate goal of reducing crime and improving the quality of life in neighborhoods.
The academy runs for nine consecutive weeks on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the LAPD’s Olympic Division, 1130 S. Vermont Ave. For information, call (213)486-6009, or email email@example.com.
