The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA) is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Republic of Korea with an exhibit running through Thursday, Aug. 20.
Korea has nurtured its culture throughout a history of over 5,000 years. However, the country suffered the hardship of Japanese colonial rule from 1910-1945. In 1948, Korea established the democratic government.
The country has advanced from being one of the poorest in the world to being one of the wealthiest. As one of more than 100 countries that were established or liberated after World War II, Korea is the only country that realized full democratization and economic advancement simultaneously. In this sense, it is one of the great miracles of history, according to KCCLA.
The exhibition is intended to foster a spirit of hope and emotion. KCCLA is the axis of Korean heritage in Los Angeles. The Korean Cultural Center welcomes the general public to experience the rich traditions and history of Korea.
KCCLA is located at 5505 Wilshire Blvd. For information, visit www.kccla.org.
