Los Angeles Kings defenseman Viatcheslav Leonidovich “Slava” Voynov, 25, pleaded no contest on July 2 for a domestic violence attack on his wife and was immediately sentenced to 90 days in jail, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced. Voynov entered the plea to one misdemeanor count of corporal injury to spouse.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Eric Taylor also sentenced Voynov to three years summary probation, ordered him to attend a 52-week domestic violence prevention program and serve eight hours of community service. On Oct. 19, Voynov’s wife suffered injuries to her eyebrow, cheek and neck during an argument with the defendant at their home, prosecutors said.

The injuries required medical attention at a hospital, where the defendant was arrested, prosecutors added.
