The Hollywood Museum is thrilled to announce that due to the overwhelmingly enthusiastic response to its 2014 salute to the LGBT community’s contributions to the entertainment industry, it will present its second annual “Reel to Real:  Portrayals and Perceptions of Gays in Hollywood” exhibit in partnership with Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell. This educational, entertaining and informative retrospective of LGBT images in film and television featuring costumes, props, photos, and iconic imagery will tell the story of the milestones and influence that LGBT characters and plot lines have had in Hollywood from early stereotypes to modern representations.

Due to the popularity of the “Real to Reel” exhibit, networks, studios and personalities have submitted additional items for loan to be added to the exhibit.

Some additions include Caitlyn Jenner’s personal photos, Joel Grey’s cane from “Cabaret”, costumes worn by Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo and Wesley Snipes in “Too Wong Fu, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar”, and a children’s book about growing up as a transkid written by Jazz Jennings, a transgender teen and star of TLC reality show “I Am Jazz.”

The “Reel to Real” exhibition is sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank and The Hollywood Reporter. The exhibit has been extended through September.

The Hollywood Museum in the historic Max Factor Building, located just steps from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, houses the largest collection of entertainment memorabilia in the world.

The Hollywood Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 1660 N. Highland Ave.
