The 21st annual Gilmore Heritage Auto Show will be held on Saturday, June 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Original Farmers Market, corner of 3rd and Fairfax.

The theme of the 2015 auto show is “60 Years of Fearless Flying: A Tribute to the Ford Thunderbird.” More than 100 classic and vintage American cars will be displayed, including numerous Thunderbirds from the 1950s through 1970s, as well as the iconic Thunderbird in the Oscar-winning movie, “Thelma & Louise”, courtesy of the Petersen Automotive Museum.

Billed by Ford as a “personal luxury car,” the two-seat convertible T-bird became available to the public during the 1955 model year. With a fiberglass hardtop, half-covered rear wheel openings and whitewall tires, the Thunderbird offered high-end style and a V8 engine with 193 horsepower. After 11 generations, Ford ceased production of the vehicle in 2005, but it remains an automotive icon as well as a favorite among automotive enthusiasts.

“We’re excited to celebrate 60 years of the classic Thunderbird,” Farmers Market marketing director Ilysha Buss said. “These cars truly symbolize American popular culture. The quality and variety of cars at our show always makes it enjoyable, but having beautiful and iconic T-birds on display will make this year especially memorable.”

The Gilmore Heritage Auto Show is free. Visitors can walk among the more than 100 classic cars displayed and meet car owners. The vehicles span five decades, from a 1927 Ford Model T to a 1979 Ford T-bird Ranchero. Among the show cars this year are Corvette Stingrays, Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Chevelles. As a grand finale, the show cars participate in an end-of-show drive-off at 5 p.m.
