Jewish World Watch (JWW) has announced that William “Bill” Bernstein has become the organization’s new executive director. JWW is one of the nation’s leading educational and advocacy organizations in the fight against genocide and mass atrocities. Headquartered in Los Angeles, JWW represents more than 375,000 activists throughout the United States.
Bernstein comes to JWW from the Liberty Hill Foundation, where he served as chief development officer. Over the course of his three-decade career, Bernstein has held senior management positions at Jewish and social justice organizations, and brings significant leadership experience and extensive knowledge of the national non-profit landscape to JWW.
“Jewish World Watch has experienced tremendous growth since its founding 11 years ago, developing from an idea at a single synagogue into a multi-faith grassroots movement spanning across America, ” said Janice Kamenir-Reznik, co-founder and president of Jewish World Watch. “As we continue to grow, Bill Bernstein’s leadership and experience will be a tremendous asset for Jewish World Watch. We are thrilled to have him at the helm as we work to increase our organization’s impact and build an even broader coalition of activists committed to a world without genocide.”
Bernstein also held leadership positions at Jewish Federations throughout the United States. He also served as the assistant dean of development at the University of Maryland School of Law, and major gift director of RAND Corporation.
“I feel privileged to become part of Jewish World Watch, which has demonstrated that local action can have an extraordinary global impact in the fight against genocide,” Bernstein said. “Advancing social justice has been a guiding principle of my career and a core value of my family for generations. I am excited to join JWW’s remarkably dedicated community of activists to fight for those threatened by genocide and mass atrocities in all corners of the world.”
