Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division are searching for seven male suspects who attempted to burglarize a medical marijuana dispensary on March 6 in the 5100 bock of Venice Boulevard.
Police have also released a surveillance camera image of some of the suspects, and are asking anyone who recognizes the men to call.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. at the Hollyweed dispensary, which is one of the dispensaries that qualifies for limited immunity under Prop. D. The suspects pried open a front door to gain access and searched through multiple rooms inside the building. One of the suspects can be seen on surveillance camera video unsuccessfully attempting to remove an automated teller machine. At least two others attempted to remove a safe.
“It’s a good video. Hopefully we get some leads,” said Det. D. Nolan, with the Wilshire Division’s Burglary Unit. “They pushed a safe outside the door and tried to load it up, but took off.”
Investigators believe the suspects may have fled after seeing a patrol car pass by the building. The officer noticed a vehicle leaving from a side street, and circled back to check it out, but could not locate the vehicle. The safe was left at the scene, and it is unclear whether anything was stolen.
The same suspects were also observed attempting to break into the location the previous night. Three of the individuals wore masks during the burglary. Some of the suspects are believed to have been traveling in a newer model white Mercedes Benz GLK that can be seen pulling up in front of the dispensary while the burglary occurred.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Wilshire Division burglary detectives at (323)922-8255.
