The EC Gallery in Beverly Hills is slated to show a special Dr. Seuss exhibit, April 25 to May 10.

Few authors are better known than Theodor Seuss Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss, yet, to this day, his “Secret Art” and his fantastical “Hat Collection” are virtually unknown to the general public, representatives said. Throughout his lifetime, Geisel created paintings and collected hats, which he hid in a closet at the Dr. Seuss Estate. This is the first time that the hats have ever traveled outside his home.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of Dr. Seuss’s second book, “The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins”, a special “Hats Off to Dr. Seuss!” exhibition has been mounted that combines the two secret collections. Audrey S. Geisel, the widow of Dr. Seuss, has opened the estate’s legendary hat closet to allow the public a peek at Dr. Seuss’s hat collection. Secret Art is a series of estate-authorized works adopted and reproduced from Geisel’s original drawings, paintings and sculptures.

The EC Gallery, located at 229 S. Beverly Dr., will host a special public opening on April 25 from noon to 6 p.m. Normal gallery hours are Monday-Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Thursday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
