Women Helping Women Community Counseling & Support services (WHW), a program of National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles (NCJW/LA), is accepting applications for the spring 2015 cycle of its scholarship program. NCJW/LA scholarships range from $1,000 to $2,000 and are awarded to nursing students, teachers, single parents, mid-life women and film production students. Applications will be accepted through May 1, and 11 scholarships will be awarded in June.
The scholarships include the Dodell Women’s Empowerment Scholarship, the Sophie Greenstadt Scholarship for Mid-Life Women, the Singerman/Nosseck Memorial Scholarship, the June Miller Nursing Education Scholarship, the Inger Lawrence-M.R. Bauer Foundation Nursing Studies Scholarship, the Susan Schulman Begley Memorial Scholarship, the Sol Goldberg Childcare Subsidy, the Sherman & Frances L. Teller Teachers Scholarship, and the Stephen L. Teller & Richard Hotson TV and Cinema Scholarship. The WHW scholarship program was created in 1987 to distribute funds to women and men who have made a commitment to higher education.
The program has provided more than $342,000 in grants. Applications are evaluated based on each student’s dedication to their chosen field and their financial need.
