Free prom dresses, suits, shoes and accessories were provided on April 18 to approximately 600 girls and boys in foster care during “Glamour Gowns 2015” at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The clothing was donated by apparel companies, and representatives of local entertainment unions assisted recipients with hair, makeup and fitting.

Glamour Gowns collects donated apparel and produces the event, in conjunction with nonprofit Court Appointed Special Services (CASA) of Los Angeles.

More than 30,000 children are under the jurisdiction of the dependency court in Los Angeles County and more than 18,000 live in foster care.

Financial circumstances often do not allow for “non-essential” yet important items such as prom dresses, suits and attire for formal dances, which are provided through Glamour Gowns.
