Police have canvassed the area around a bus shelter on Wilshire Boulevard where a homeless woman was found murdered on Feb. 28, and were unsuccessful in generating solid leads.
Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects, and determining with whom the victim associated and the locations she frequented.
The 41-year-old victim was found unconscious by two pedestrians at a bus shelter in the 4000 block of Wilshire Boulevard. The fire department was notified, and paramedics determined the woman was dead. She was later identified as Najat Pennell, a native of Belize. She had reportedly been staying at the bus shelter for approximately three weeks prior to her death, and also stayed near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Highland Avenue.
Anyone with information about the murder is urged to contact detectives with the LAPD’s West Bureau Homicide Unit at (213)382-9470.
