U.S. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) is hosting an official district swearing-in ceremony on Sunday afternoon.
Lieu represents the 33rd U.S. Congressional District. The swearing in ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, U.S. Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), U.S. Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.), U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) and actor Tim Robbins, among others, are expected to attend.
Lieu is succeeding longtime U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman, who retired from Congress. Since taking office, Lieu has become a member of the House Committee on the Budget and the House Committee on Oversight and Governmental Reform. He is also the freshman Democratic class president.
