In observance of National “Spay and Neuter” and “Pet Dental Health” month in February, the Malibu Country Mart and Best Friends Animal Society are hosting a pet adoption and wellness event titled “The Malibu Pet-A-Palooza” on Saturday, Feb. 21 from noon to 3 p.m. Pet lovers can adopt a pet and visit wellness booths with information to keep their four-legged friends healthy and happy.

Best Friends Animal Society will offer vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed or neutered kittens, puppies, cats and dogs for adoption. Each new pet owner will receive an adoption kit with a pet ID tag, one month of pet insurance and Natural Balance pet food.

Malibu Coast Animal Hospital will offer a complimentary rescue exam for all animals adopted at the event. A driver’s license or valid form of ID is required for adoption as well as a collar, leash or carrier to take pets home. Best Friends Animal Society will also offer merchandise such as collars, leashes, carriers and more. All profits from the merchandise will benefit Best Friends Animal Society. The mart will also host a pet costume contest beginning at 2 p.m. by the jester fountain, as well as special appearances by celebrity dogs. First, second and third prizes include toys, treats and chews. Pet owners can also sign up for discounted dental cleanings for their dogs through March, and PawPack will offer samples.

A special meet-and-greet session will be held with iconic Instagram pups Toothfairypixie and Underbiteunite from noon to 3 p.m. Guests can take pictures with the dogs and also purchase @Toothfairypixie and @Underbiteunite merchandise, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting NKLA.
