The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) chief facilities executive Mark Hovatter accepted the Liberty Mutual Gold Safety Award during the LAUSD board of education’s budget, facilities and audit meeting on Thursday.
The award was presented in honor of the Facilities Services Division’s outstanding safety record in the construction of new schools and the modernization existing school sites.
“It is an honor to recognize our Facilities Services Division and their remarkable track record when it comes to protecting the workers who build, repair and maintain our school sites,” said LAUSD Board Member Bennett Kayser.
“As a teacher, I appreciate the value of, and effort it takes, to create safe learning and working environments for our school communities.”
“The district puts safety front and center and it is my honor to accept this award for the District for our ongoing safety efforts,” Hovatter said.
“Safety is clearly and visibly integrated into our district’s culture and this partnership with Liberty Mutual has made it easier for us to meet national safety standards.”
