The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has filed three new murder charges against a defendant who is already serving life in prison for the 2007 murder of a teenage runaway who was found dead in a hotel room on Sunset Boulevard.

Gilton Pitre, 42, is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges on March 23. He is charged with the murders of two women, and the unborn child of one of the victims.

The bodies of the two women, who authorities identified only as Maribel M., 29, and Irma A., 24, were found in different locations in 2004 in downtown Los Angeles. It was later discovered that Irma A. was eight months pregnant at the time of her death. Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Jane Robison said the two victims were transients.

Very little information about the murders was available. Robison declined to comment further on the charges, and it is unclear in a criminal complaint filed against Pitre how authorities determined he is allegedly linked to the three additional homicides.

Maribel M. is believed to have been murdered on or around Jan. 31, 2004, while Irma A. was killed around Sept. 4, 2004.

Pitre is currently serving a sentence of 110 years to life in prison for the murder of a 15-year-old runaway who police found dead in an alley in 2007. The victim, identified as Alyssa Gomez, was strangled to death. According to reports, Pitre killed Gomez in a room at the Olive Motel in the 2700 block of Sunset Boulevard and dumped her body in a nearby alley. Police identified Pitre through a blanket he had used to cover the body that was linked to the hotel, and surveillance camera footage from the hotel.
